Legal Chris Carey has been sentenced to fifteen months for escaping from prison and twelve months for obtaining goods by deception. These sentences will be added to the four year sentence for conspiracy to defraud BSkyB that he received last year. Carey was extradited from New Zealand earlier this year after private detectives working for Murdoch's News Corporation traced him to New Zealand. Legal After being extradited from New Zealand, Chris Carey is expected to plead guilty to two charges when he stands trial at Chichester Magistrates Court on April 23rd. He escaped from a UK prison last August and fled to New Zealand. Detectives working for Murdoch tracked Carey to New Zealand. Apparently they had been following him for some weeks in New Zealand before he was arrested there and charged with entering the country with a false passport. Carey had operated under the alias of Chris Broady. Carey had escaped from Ford Prison in the UK in August of last year. Ford is an open prison and has a relatively low security level. Ironically there was a report that the prison was to introduce an electronic tagging scheme.
